As with all plants there are a number of varieties of the Aloe, but Aloe Vera is the plant that is considered to possess the necessary properties and medical benefits which are beginning to get noticed.
Interestingly, the plant was certainly noticed by vets years ago as it forms part of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons' Coat of Arms.
The outer skin of the leaf of the plant is not thought to be beneficial. Rather it is the 'gel' inside the leaf that matters. However when used by most commercial organisations it makes no economic sense for them to try and extract this sap, so they destroy the whole leaf.
This 'whole leaf' bit though hasn't stopped marketing departments and advertisers as hyping it up as the best Aloe Vera you can get.
Take no notice. It's the gel or sap inside the leaf that matters.

You may well be wondering if this plant is so fantastic why pharmaceutical companies and the medical profession does not start promoting this plant much more.
As for the medical profession, they unfortunately do what the pharmaceutical companies tell them to to. The latter on the other hand are unlikely to promote it (to any great extent at least) simply because extracting the gel is probably not worth their while; manufacturing other chemical-based synthetic alternatives are likely to be cheaper to make.
In short, there is no profit in it for them
One other point. Aloe Vera is a plant that can be grown in your own home. You can even make your own medicinal products and the PDF on We Go Green will show you how.
So, if you are looking for a better way to treat medical problems then perhaps it is times to start thinking more naturally.
Aloe Vera (and many other plants) may not be magical in reality, but their properties have been forgotten in our pursuit for instant gratification.
