Did you know there are 2 types of people in this world - those that are building their own dreams and those that are building other people's dreams?
Which group do you belong to?
Excluding people who work in public service, those who are building other people's dreams would be classed as working for someone else in a business.
They get paid a weekly wage or a monthly salary for the work they do for their employer.
For most employees, how much they are paid is beyond their control. But you can bet that what they are paid will be just sufficient to keep them in the job, but not enough to really enjoy their life.
This will apply to highly paid jobs as much as poorer paid employment. Highly paid executives may appear to live the 'high life' and many will do so. However they won't be paid as much as their boss or the owner of the company.
Interestingly, this applies to all forms of employment irrespective of whether it is private business or public service such as local government.
This also describes the typical pyramid found in every organisation you can think of - from corporate companies to the management of the local school.
In short - those at the top earn the most while those at the bottom earn the least.
In fact, for the poorest paid workers the minimum wage is the norm.
Is this fair?
Probably not. But that's the way the system works. So, unless you become your own boss you will never get out of that trap - often called the Monkey Trap.
HOW THE MONKEY TRAP WORKS
Have you ever heard of the saying: pay peanuts and you get monkeys.
Essentially this is a description of how a group of villagers in a remote part of world would capture their next meal - a monkey.
Twine or something similar would be attached to a pot or a coconut. Nuts would be put inside the vessel, the hole being just big enough to put a hand inside.
Now, monkeys are not the brightest of animals. When they see the nuts they will invariably put their hand inside to retrieve the food. However in order to drag it out the monkey will need to clench its fist.
But the hole in the pot or coconut is not big enough for the monkey to withdraw its hand with the nuts intact.
In other words, the monkey has a choice - either keep hold of the nuts or let go and withdraw its paw.
Which do you think the monkey will choose?
Are you in the Monkey Trap?
Now this all sounds very depressing, especially in today's economic climate with high unemployment.
People in this situation are climbing over each just so they can impress someone in order to get a job. Bosses of companies will like this as they can pick the best of the crop. For those without a job to go to can suddenly find themselves in a spiral of despair.
But whether you are unemployed or employed if you aren't even close to building your dreams you will no doubt be a little miffed.
But you can build your own dreams. What's more, you can do so while still working for someone else.
The question is though - are you prepared to do it?
It's called being self employed.
Now for most people being self employed is a horrifying idea. However it doesn't have to be. What's more you can start your own business under the umbrella of a larger company without the usual worries associated with running your own business.
It's a win-win situation for all concerned.
Think about it and you will understand why.
It's called the People's Franchise (aka Network Marketing, Referral Marketing or Cooperative Marketing); similar to a franchise such as McDonalds or Starbucks but investment is very low. In fact in the UK today you can't legally invest more than £200.
What traditional business could you start for less than £200?
There are many, many businesses of this sort available in the UK and around the world. The Direct Selling Association can help you find one that suits.
Thousands of people up and down the country are making an extra income - perhaps just a few hundred pounds to help pay the bills, running their own work-from-home venture.
A few however work full time earning thousands of pounds each month.
The thing is - you have the choice. Your destiny is in your own hands.
But - are you are prepared to do what it takes to achieve your goals?
If you are then network marketing can help you. But you have to really, really want it.
As for the sort of companies available - the variety is immense from eco and cosmetic products to financial services and books. Choosing one really depends on what inspires you.
